Public Presentation And Appointments With Ombudsman Staff Available October 27 In Yorkton

On October 27, residents of Yorkton and the surrounding area will be able to meet individually with staff from Ombudsman Saskatchewan. Those who think they have been treated unfairly by an administrative decision or action of the provincial government can go to SIGN on Broadway at 345 Broadway Street West from 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. To book a time in advance, call 1-800-667-9787. Walk-ins are welcome.

Those who would like to know more about what the Ombudsman does and the kinds of complaints she can take are invited to a brief presentation at 1:30 p.m. in the Regency Room at SIGN on Broadway. Ombudsman Mary McFadyen will be on hand. Everyone is welcome, and coffee and cookies will be available.

The Ombudsman can take complaints about provincial government ministries, Crown corporations, most provincial and provincially-funded agencies, boards, commissions, and publicly-funded health entities. The Ombudsman is independent and impartial and there is no cost to make a complaint.

When possible, the Ombudsman’s staff try to resolve complaints using non-adversarial approaches such as facilitated communications, negotiation, mediation, conciliation and coaching. If that is not successful, and if required, the Office will conduct an investigation into the complaint, and if appropriate, make recommendations that government take corrective action to address and resolve the complaint. More information about the Ombudsman is available at www.ombudsman.sk.ca.
