Financial Assistance

The financial benefit for Manitobans evacuated under a mandatory order will be $34 per day for each person aged 13 and older ($238 per week) and $27 per day for each child aged 12 and under ($189 per week).

Provincial Disaster Assistance Program

  • “Fire-related losses are not covered, although in extreme cases the following assistance may be made for wildfires:
    • Dangerous tree removal; and
    • Pre-emptive measures to protect eligible property as the wildfire approaches, such as firebreaks, fireguards and sprinklers.”

Ministry of Social Services: Potential one-time payment for change in circumstances.

SPSA: 1-855-559-5502 – They are able to get individuals registered for support with groceries, clothing, medication, accommodations and mental health supports.

Evacuation update

  1. Returned Home:

La Ronge, Air Ronge, Lac La Ronge Indian Band, Pelican Narrows, Weyakwin, Brabant Lake, Ramsey Bay, Sucker River, Nemeiben Lake, Hall Lake (most residents have returned or are returning as evacuation orders are lifted

  1. Still Evacuated (as of recent updates):

Creighton, Denare Beach, East Trout Lake, Whelan Bay, and priority individuals in Cumberland House (some remain evacuated due to ongoing threats or lack of essential services).

Prince Albert

  • Sask Polytech Campus: 1500 10th Avenue East, Prince Albert; 1-866-467-4278
    • An additional registration and shelter centre has opened at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus in Prince Albert for evacuees.
  • Prince Albert Grand Council Urban Services Centre: Another key registration and support site for evacuees.
  • Muskoday School (15 minutes south of PA): Transformed into a makeshift shelter, Muskoday School can accommodate up to 200 people.
  • City Campgrounds: The City of Prince Albert Exhibition is offering free RV and trailer campsites for evacuees at its campground.
  • Hotels: Days Inn,

Evacuees from Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation , Creighton, Denare Beach, East Trout Lake, Whelan Bay, and priority individuals from Cumberland House have been among those sheltered in Prince Albert

Saskatoon

  • Red Cross Shelter at Cosmo Civic Centre: 3130 Laurier Drive, Saskatoon
    • The Canadian Red Cross operates shelters in Saskatoon for wildfire evacuees, providing emergency accommodation, meals, and support services.
  • Hotels: Travel Lodge, Saskatoon Inn, Heritage Inn, Quality Inn, Comfort Suites, Park Town, Super 8, Days Inn + Best Western
  • ChokeCherry Studios: Shelter for youth 13-27 as well as donations for clothing, hygiene, harm reduction, in-house counselling, snacks and a daily meal.

Evacuees from Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, Creighton, Denare Beach, East Trout Lake, Whelan Bay, and Cumberland House have also been accommodated in Saskatoon

 

Batoche

  • Batoche Festival Grounds (Métis Nation–Saskatchewan):
    • Open for evacuees who prefer to camp or stay in cabins/tents, especially elders and families. Meals and 24-hour security are provided. Registration is available at 1-877-Metis-SK.

Melfort, James Smith Cree Nation, Muskoday First Nation (Evacuee support),

  • Melfort – Marguerite Riel Centre: Accepting toiletries, baby items, snacks, towels, and gift cards for evacuees in Melfort and surrounding areas, as well as James Smith Cree Nation. More information can be found here.
  • Donations for Muskoday First Nation accepted at NEOSS in Melfort. Learn more.
