COVID-19 Message from the Ombudsman / Commissioner
We want to let you know that Ombudsman Saskatchewan is still here to listen to you and take your complaints about provincial and municipal government institutions and public services.
While we are currently working away from our Regina and Saskatoon offices to help slow the spread of COVID-19, you can still access our services by telephone (1-800-667-9787) or make a complaint online. As the Office of the Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner, we also remain available to public sector employees who want to seek advice or make a disclosure of wrongdoing or complaint of reprisal.
Provincial and municipal governments have a duty to deliver services fairly to all the people of Saskatchewan. At Ombudsman Saskatchewan, we continue to be available as an independent and impartial office to help informally resolve problems and investigate when appropriate.
We have taken additional steps to make sure inmates of Saskatchewan’s correctional centres can continue to call us directly and confidentially without the calls being monitored by the Ministry of Corrections and Policing. We continue to direct inmates through the complaint process and escalate complaints with Corrections officials as appropriate.
We have also received more calls than usual from people seeking access to services or information about issues and agencies that do not fall under our jurisdiction. We are still here to help. No matter what or who your issue is about, we will do our best to direct you the information you need and the best way to have your concerns addressed.
During these unexpected and trying times, Ombudsman Saskatchewan continues to be here to help anyone who contacts us, if they feel they are dealing with unfair practices or gaps in government services and programs or cannot get timely access to services. Remember, we will all get through this together by staying apart. Stay safe.
